A large Cheshire-based chauffeur firm has been charged with conspiracy to defraud following a court hearing bought by Halton Council Trading Standards.
PCS Events Limited, also known as PCS Chauffeurs and Professional Chauffeur Service, is alleged on or about 18 January 2006, to have conspired to defraud either the hire car companies or the general public by means of altering the mileage on vehicles to show that they have travelled less than they had actually travelled, Contrary to Common Law. Six individuals aged from 27 to 57 years-old appeared in court to face the charges.
The company operates more than 150 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Runcorn, boasts clients such as Emirates Airlines’ and employs more than a hundred people across various locations across the country. CEO, 66 year-old John Murphy, one of the accused, started the company more than 20 years ago.
The case was transferred to Chester Crown Court where all the accused will appear on 14 December 2015 for a plea and case management hearing. All defendants were remanded on unconditional bail.
