Association to launch mobile service to combat 'app operators'

The chauffeur and private hire industries are being invited to witness the launch of a new mobile app which is aimed to fight back against ‘app only’ operators.

The Licensed Private Hire Car Association (LPHCA) has announced it is working alongside Splitcab to develop a service which it says will ‘lead the fight back against ‘App only’ Operators by traditional Private Hire Vehicle Operators.’

Chauffeurs are being invited to hear about the initiative as well as attend industry seminars at the forthcoming LPHCA Roadshow at Heathrow on Thursday October 1st 2015.

The 2014 event broke all records and saw more attendees at the show than ever before. This year, the audience will hear from Peter Blake of Transport for London, who is responsible of licensing London’s Taxi and PHV Industry. He will be covering the proposed new Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle regulations for London.

Steve Wright from the LPHCA commented; “Whilst the points covered by Peter Blake could be thought to be London centric, as they will focus on potential new regulatory requirements in London, what happens in London is very likely to travel elsewhere, so interest goes well outside of London.

He added; “The same could be said about the Ultra Low Emission Zone requirements, which will eventually affect all Taxis and PHVs throughout the UK that go into London. It is very likely that major cities will follow London’s lead, so the importance of learning what is proposed is essential.”

Pre-registration for the industry’s largest event which is at the Marriot Hotel, Bath Road, Heathrow is now open, and operators can sign-up here. Doors are open from 9:15am.
