PCS Events Limited, also known as PCS Chauffeurs and Professional Chauffeur Service is to stand trial for car clocking charges, following a hearing last week.
Seven individuals from the firm appeared at Chester Crown Court and all pleaded not guilty to defraud either car hire companies or the general public by clocking vehicle odometers so that they appeared to have travelled fewer miles than they actually had. The case was brought by Warrington Trading Standards which raided the company’s offices in July 2013 with Cheshire Police.
The defendants included the owner of PCS Chauffeurs, Mr John Murphy, Paul Arslanian, Laura Jane Murphy, Christopher Graham Lunt, Kevin Paul Batty, Trevor Gareth Jones, Simon Richard Williams.
PCS chauffeurs employs around 250 staff from their Runcorn operation, running a fleet of around 150 vehicles, predominantly Mercedes vehicles. The chauffeur company provides services to a number of blue-chip clients with their largest client being Emirates Airline.
On the 4th March 2016, PCS Chauffeurs along with the seven defendants appeared at Chester Crown Court to enter pleas and for the second case management hearing. All defendants appeared in person to enter pleas of not guilty, resulting in a trial date being set for the 9th January 2017. The case is expected to last six weeks.
