For the first time in the history of the awards, the awards will be judged entirely by chauffeurs and industry representatives – after all, they are the people driving these vehicles hundreds of thousands of miles each year putting them to the ultimate test.
Sponsored and operated by industry website www.thechauffeur.com, the awards have been separated into three categories to recognise the vehicles at different price brackets. Previous winners of the awards have included the Jaguar XJ 2.7 TDVi, Lexus LS600hL and the Bentley Flying Spur.
For the 2010 awards, all nominated vehicles will be tested for:
Marque desirability
Design and function
Equipment levels
Driver and passenger comfort
Ride and handling
Boot space
Vehicle pricing and chauffeur packages
Engine performance and economy
General vehicle quality and workmanship
Emphasis for the 2010 awards will be on the special chauffeur packages offered by the manufacturer and commitment to the industry. These will be judged on their suitability for the chauffeur business.
Editor of thechauffeur.com, Paul Gibson commented; “I am delighted to reintroduce The Chauffeur Car of the Year Awards after its short break. These are a prestigious set of awards and it will be a great year, as a variety of manufacturers now offer special deals to the chauffeur industry.”
