Facelift Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed

The mid-life facelift of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has received its global premiere at the Auto Shanghai.

Featuring new powertrains and a massive step forward in autonomous driving, the new S-Class promises to be more economical and powerful than ever before. Arriving around July 2017, chauffeurs can expect a 7% increase on fuel economy on the S350 (51mpg), producing only 145 g/km of CO2.

The S-Class gets a fresh new face with now three vertical lines in the headlamps and LWB models gets extra chrome touches in the radiator grille to enhance its appearance.

Inside, there are two new high-resolution displays each with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches. The two displays are now under one shared glass cover offering a wide-screen cockpit.

Never to disappoint, Mercedes-Benz has introduced an array of technological advancements. DISTRONIC Active Proximity Control and Active Steer Assist now provides even more comfortable support for the driver, the vehicle speed is now adjusted automatically ahead of curves or junctions.

To make sure the S-Class caters for every need and client, an ‘ENERGIZING’ system is introduced as an option, linking together climate control, ambient lighting, massage and fragrance to match your requirements at the touch of a button.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz plans a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of about 50 kilometres. At the same time, ground-breaking technologies such as the 48-volt Integrated Starter Alternator and the electric booster compressor celebrate their world première.
