Two major fleet players order first 300 Infiniti Q50s

Two major fleet buyers will each be ordering 150 of Infiniti’s recently announced Q50’s with the aim of giving it a new edge. “We are the biggest buyer of BMW’s and other prestige vehicles”, said the Managing Director of one fleet buyer, “But our customers want something new and inspired that is driver-friendly, energy-efficient and built to very high standards”. These latest deliveries compliment existing Infiniti fleet purchases and are being arranged with Infiniti Reading, Europe’s biggest Infiniti supplier. Ten more orders are currently being arranged with a premiership football club through Infiniti Reading, with further interest intensifying as the car’s official launch draws closer. The Infiniti Q50 is a premium sports saloon and represents a major step forward in choice for prestige car buyers in the UK. Sales Manager James Lotinga commented; “The Infiniti Q50 has been produced specifically with the European Market in mind and with the model options available, allows us to appeal to a wide, discerning audience.” With a 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel engine that emits under 115g/km CO2, the Q50 can provide in excess of 65mpg while still maintaining a good level of performance, with 170 PS of power and 400Nm of available torque, perfectly designed around the needs of drivers.  This super-efficient engine ensures low tax and running costs with a starting price of just £27,350. The other technologically-advanced engine available is a sophisticated petrol V6 hybrid.  More performance biased of the two engines, with acceleration from 0-62mph to be under 5.5 seconds but with CO2 below 145g/km and fuel economy of around 45mpg, it will still attract low taxation.  This engine is also available with a four wheel drive option. 2013 Skoda Superb gets chauffeur treatment

Skoda has announced a fresh new facelift of the popular Superb model which now gets a feature not seen in many other chauffeur cars. To be revealed next week (19th April), the manufacturers flagship model features a new interior and advanced technology throughout, as well as a completely new front and rear design. For the first time, rear passengers will be able to move the front passenger seat forward electronically – a feature not seen in many low-end chauffeur vehicles. Boot space in the new Superb remains to be one of the largest in its class with a massive 595 litres available – 55 litres more than a Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Selected engines in the Superb will save more than 19% fuel when compared to their predecessors. Contributing to this is Start–stop and kinetic energy recuperation technology, which will be standard in all Škoda Superb diesel engines, in addition to the entry-level 1.4 TSI 125PS petrol engine in EU countries. The Superb GreenLine offers fuel consumption of just 67.3 mpg, with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km with the 2.0 TDI 140PS diesel engine featuring a manual transmission in the 4×4 version. Additionally, the 2.0 TDI 170PS 4×4 diesel will be available with a six-speed DSG dual clutch transmission. Pricing for the facelift model has not yet been announced, but the new Superb will be launched in European markets at the end of June...

Galaxy underlines starring role on chauffeur fleet

Europe’s largest private hire firm, Addison Lee, has taken delivery of the first of the 1,200 Ford Galaxy Multi Purpose Vehicles which will join its fleet this year. It is the largest single-year order that Addison Lee has ever placed with Ford. By November the firm’s 2500-strong minicab fleet will be 100 per cent Ford. The Galaxy models – all diesel, all automatic and, appropriately for Ford, all black – will be delivered at the rate of around 28 a week over the coming months. Addison Lee fleet manager Rob Daniels said: “We spent three months assessing vehicles and talking to manufacturers; the Ford Galaxy emerged as the best package for us on many levels, not only financially. It is safe, offers low emissions and is economical to run.” The outstanding economy of the Ford Galaxy 2.0 140PS TDCi PowerShift model was illustrated by Addison Lee last autumn, when one of their drivers achieved an average fuel consumption figure calculated to be 57.08mpg on the MPG Marathon (the UK’s premier economy driving event.) Kevin Griffin, Ford’s fleet director, said: “Addison Lee has recognised the Ford Galaxy’s class-leading attributes. It complements their own prestige status as a provider of premium minicabs and chauffeur cars.” The firm has cut emissions per journey by more than 17 per cent since 2002 and is working on a further six per cent year-on-year reduction. The company is the only member of 190 businesses in the Green500 to achieve the highest ‘Diamond’ status for reducing carbon emissions and has won numerous awards for its programme to reduce its environmental impact. About Addison Lee Addison Lee is London’s premium minicab service and also offers chauffeur services, international delivery services, couriers and executive coaches. Founded in Battersea in 1975, Addison Lee carries 10 million passengers a year and couriers more than 40,000 deliveries every month. Green500is one of a number of London Development Agency initiatives which aim to reduce London’s CO2 emissions.  The aim of Green500 is to enlist some of London’s largest and most prestigious organisations, and mentor them through their carbon reduction commitments....
