Mayors Chauffeur required

MAYOR’S CHAUFFEUR/CHAUFFEUSE.

Salary range: £17,165 to £18,661 per annum depending on experience. Based at Millmead House, Guildford

Do you enjoy driving but are looking for something slightly different? Are you interested in working outside a normal 9 to 5 Monday to Friday routine? If so, then Chauffeur to the Mayor of Guildford might be just the opportunity for you.

We are looking to recruit a chauffeur to provide an efficient and reliable chauffeur service for the Mayor, ensuring they travel to their official engagements safely and in good time. The post needs someone who can be very flexible in their working hours, which are irregular depending on the Mayor’s engagements. Hours of work will be an average of 37 per week including daytimes, evenings, weekends and public holidays, sometimes at short notice.

Being smart and professional in appearance you will need a full, valid driving licence and excellent driving skills. Previous experience of working with the public or in a customer focussed environment and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people is essential. You will also be responsible for carrying out day to day cleaning and minor maintenance of the mayoral car.

You will also be expected to carry the ceremonial mace at Council meetings and other civic occasions should the need arise. The selection process will include a short driving and basic car maintenance assessment.
